Now this is something you rarely run into. No, not that Hyundai SUV-of-some-sort. That red thing. With it’s hatch slightly opened for fresh air (which was actually a feature).
Excuse me for the crappy shot, I simply was too excited to hold my phone steady...

What even is it?

Alfa Romeo Junior Z, I think.

Rare sight indeed. Got to picture one two weeks ago.

An Alfa Romeo 1300 GT Junior Zagato.
Look at that rear: electrically elevating rear hatch for “low drag flow through ventilation”

Haha, those Italian plates in front of it’s Japanese is awesome. Such a great little car.

Fancy! That’s quite the looker as well.

Wow, that’s a great sighting. I’ve definitely never seen one just driving around. They’re probably much rarer here, though. I love those cars and that hatch thing is hilarious. And rather clever, but I hope it doesn’t asphyxiate the passengers when it’s stopped.

I’ve always learned that the lower-pressure of the interior actually can attract fumes from the outside anyway while driving so I’m not even sure it will happen just when it’s stopped.
The fact that hatch was electrically operated makes it even more awesome.

Yeah, you’re never supposed to have the rear window open. We would always ask in my dad’s old station wagon, but he he knew better.
An electric hatch is pretty awesome, actually. I wish I had that on the NX.

Maybe the trick is to keep that opening not too wide. If you let as much air in from the front it could actually create a nice flow come to think of it. The Italians can’t be that stupid?
![]() 09/21/2015 at 14:02 |

It must create nice airflow. Like when I pop open the rear windows on the Le Car. With our recent heatwave here, it’s helped. A little. Now the hot air moves faster. Maybe the Zagato wedge also helps keep exhaust out. He knew what he was doing.

He didn’t always know what he was doing, somehow.
Speaking of Zagato: Didn’t you plan on doing a piece on the Zimp?
![]() 09/22/2015 at 03:19 |
|
I probably did. All right. I will do a post on the Zimp. I wanted to post something this week. I have one on the Biscuter I started. Which racing team was I going to do as well? I have to start writing these down. Like our Wanke r l plans.

Racing team... Now you’ve gotten my brains processing to the max. Was it French? Or was it German? Belgian perhaps?
![]() 09/23/2015 at 03:17 |

Maybe French. Or, British? My brain is broken. Ligier?
![]() 09/23/2015 at 04:39 |

Ligier, don’t think so. I have two great JS2s in 1/43 waiting for a very French Friday.
Wait a minute, wasn’t it Henri Pescarolo? With the mullet-picture?
![]() 09/24/2015 at 02:50 |

It could have been Pescarolo. But, I feel like it was a team from a little earlier than his. He is a good subject, though.
I will leave Ligier to your expertise then. That’ll be a good one.

I really think it was. Remember this picture?
I think we mentioned back then how awesome it was that he was totally dedicated to long distance, at first as a driver, later on as a constructor. And he looks like he has Gauloises for breakfast.
Or Matra perhaps?
![]() 09/25/2015 at 04:39 |

How could I forget that picture? It’s epic. The hair, the beard, the sideburns. I think he smoked Gauloises while he slept. I guess it was him. I’ll have to start doing research. It definitely wasn’t Matra, but I’d like to do something Matra related.
![]() 09/25/2015 at 05:54 |

It’s Matra related anyway, he won the 24 hours of Le Mans 3 times driving a Matra! I don’t think he smoked those Gauloises for breakfast, I’m sure he put it on his bread. Ultimate breakfast for winners.
![]() 09/25/2015 at 14:33 |

Haha. He may have been smoking them as he drove those Matras. Maybe I can combine Matra and Pescarolo into one bigger piece. I’ve been looking for a grander subject. My last couple posts have been a little shorter.
![]() 09/25/2015 at 16:09 |

I’m sure he smoked multiple Gauloises in the Matra. Just like that Gremlin.
I just saw you did some new ones, gonna check’m out in a minute. A bigger piece would be nice. Great subjects. Both. Just don’t forget to add lots of pictures of Henri.

Hey, Gremlins. One of my favorites. Now that’s a great holiday movie.
I know what picture will be the lead image.
![]() 09/26/2015 at 13:11 |

A Gremlin. With a mullet. Or one of those Gauloise-helmets.
![]() 09/28/2015 at 04:17 |

Haha. He’d look cool in one of those helmets. I bet they gave him one for smoking the most cigarettes. Or, maybe eating them. He probably ate them, too.

Sure he did, for breakfast as I said. Or do you mean fried at first for diner?
![]() 09/29/2015 at 03:00 |

Yeah, that was the original “french fry.” Cigarettes, not potatoes.
